Why?

I don't believe for a moment that one must live their whole life in the condition in which they were born in. I don't believe that one must have the religion of their parents, or believe in the same gods as their ancestors. I don't believe that traditions must be carried on. I don't believe that one must sin more or less every day. I don't believe that all rules have to be followed. I don't believe that one man is more great than another.

I do believe that one can better him/herself. I believe that a person can ruin his own life. I do believe that a person can find the truth about religion by following the advice of Jiminy Cricket. I believe that we create new ways to live every day. Sometimes we repeat history, and sometimes we create something original. I believe we have a choice how to live. "To sin or not to sin. That is the question." I believe that the letter of the law does not always encompass the intent of the law. The only man who achieve true greatness was Jesus Christ.

Why are you overweight? Why are you on Wellfare? Why do you live in poverty? Why do you live in the slums? Why do you kill other people? Why do you sin? Why do you smoke? Why can't you put down that beer? Why do you have AIDS? Why aren't you married? Why did your house get repo-ed? Why did you crash your car? Why do you torture animals? Why haven't you quit your job yet? Why haven't you paid your debts? Why are you addicted to drugs?

Why are you reading this? Because you have a choice. You can. You can just as easily close your browser window. You can lose weight, you can get a job; you can go to school; you can choose not to be a terrorist; you can live sin free; you can quite smoking; you can stop drinking; you can be healed of AIDS and teach others how not to contract it; you can stop illicit relationships; you can pay your mortgage or buy an affordable house; you can choose not to speed or drive drunk; you can have compassion on others; you can be out of your bad job and find a good one; you can get out of debt by careful budgeting; you can be free of drugs.

Don't believe me? Never heard all that before? Impossible? I think not. Having a good life is not a pipe dream. It all starts with you. In your head. It all starts with HOPE. Then goes to PRAYER. Then God answers prayer and meets your needs. Don't run from God. Choose life. Choose happiness. Why not?
